Gorgeous 1940s Victorian Revival black Onyx and milk glass cameo.
This lovely hand carved black Onyx lady in high relief is crisp with sharp detail and rests on white milk glass. It is rare to see a carving in black with a white backdrop…normally the carving is in white, cream or pinkish shell with a black stone background.
It is very well-made with outward curving bronze metal with delicate loops. It has a great weight and substantial in size compared to most cameos this age. This beauty is 80+ years old!
Cameos have been around for centuries and yet they remain a CLASSIC piece of jewelry!
*Victorian jewelry made a resurgence in the 1940s, known as Victorian Revival jewelry and this cameo is a perfect example of a Victorian Revival cameo.

*The chain is vintage untreated raw brass and may darken over time… personally a look I like. If you prefer bright and shiny a little brass polish will do the trick.
