Vintage 1940s Miriam Haskell Pearl and Antique Brass Locket
I acquired this locket at a New York estate jewelry auction and it was sold as an unsigned Mariam Haskell locket. Mariam Haskell set up her business in 1926 and at that time the company did not sign any of their jewelry with a permanent tag. I have no doubt this is a Mariam Haskell locket, however there is no hallmark to authenticate the designer on this piece. It is for that reason I am not selling this locket as a Mariam Haskell necklace and the price reflects that decision. If this locket had a Mariam Haskell cartouche the price would be triple.
Miriam Haskell opened her jewelry boutique in New York City in 1924 and instantly became known around the world for her selection of materials, designs and craftsmanship. Joan Crawford, Lucille Ball, Gloria Vanderbilt and the Duchess of Windsor were huge fans of Miriam Haskell jewelry and wore her pieces often.
This is a fantastic vintage 1940s pearl and antique brass locket in excellent condition. The snap closure on the lock works well and can hold two photographs. Exquisite!!!
