Beautiful blues in this 1950s Regency brooch with four large cabochon stones with trios of blue and iridescent faceted rhinestones set in japanned metal. Regency is know for large cabochon stones set in japanned metal which is a black “lacquer” look. This brooch is quintessential Regency!

The Regency Jewerly Company was founded in New York in the 1950s by Milton Polowitz. The jewelry produced contain spectacular color hues and high-quality clear, aurora borealis and color rhinestones, cabochons and chatons that were set in Japanned metal finish (the black-coal tar look) setting off the darker hued rhinestones.
The jewelry was sold directly to department stores in New York, Chicago and other large cities.
